Creative Learning

Since we've been having to have "homeschool" lately, I've had to come up with some creative ways to get my 7 year old to learn something without him realizing he's learning something.

A neighbor told me about a local company that would deliver a kit to your house that includes paint, stain, a stencil, and a board to do your artwork on.

I went to take a look at what they had on their website, https://hammerandstainmountjuliet.com/, and they had the perfect design for my little baseball player.

He saw this and was so excited! He chose the colors and the stain color and I submitted my order. Everyday he was asking me when it was going to be delivered because he was so excited to get started!

His kit was delivered at the perfect time. On Fridays we call it "Fun Friday" so we save all of our more interesting activities for then. So, that Friday morning he was ready to get started.

First, he stained the board:

While waiting for it to dry, I got him to do some math and reading activities on his laptop. Some of his favorite websites are www.abcya.com and www.funbrain.com.

Then he got to do the stencil. He let Mommy put the stencil on the board so we knew that it was on somewhat straight. Next, he got out the paints and used his imagination! Here is the end result. It turned out perfect!

If you and/or your child is crafty, I highly recommend doing this! In our area, we got ours from https://hammerandstainmountjuliet.com/
